Alight recently presented a webinar on how AI can help employers deliver critical and timely support to their employees when life events happen. "AI: Enabling a Better Employee Experience During Life Events" discusses how AI technology is enhancing the employee experience during significant life events. Alight has found that AI can contribute significantly in providing personalized support, streamlining processes, and improving access to resources and information, ultimately making these transitions smoother and less stressful for employees.
The webinar presenters, Karen Frost and Andy Szymczyk, are both vice presidents at Alight; Karen is a leader in Health & Wellbeing and Andy, Product. Together, they reviewed a number of ways in which AI can help HR organizations, from simplifying complexity through personalization, promoting participation in relevant programs, to delivering educational resources that are relevant to the employee based on what AI knows about that person from their demographic data. Andy provided a working definition of what we mean by “AI” (artificial intelligence) and teamed up with Karen to dispel some of the myths surrounding AI (for example, that AI can operate completely independently, without any human oversight).
The presenters discussed generative AI and the step-change abilities that “gen AI” brings to the employee experience, including conversation, summarization and content creation. Both presenters emphasized how important it is that organizations using AI ensure that the technology is employed responsibly. Organizations can ensure responsible use of AI by assessing internal and external risks for each AI technology and use-case and setting up governance and oversight for its use.
Karen Frost reviewed an example of an instance where Alight incorporated AI into a solution for a customer who wanted to drive greater utilization of health savings and 401(k) accounts by their employees. In this instance, Alight was able to successfully use AI to drive higher participation in both programs. Alight’s platform, using AI, educated employees about the benefits of funding HSAs and saving for retirement via their 401(k) accounts, and to encourage them to start saving, earn matching funds, and maximize utilization of 401(k) and health savings accounts.
In this webinar, viewers learn that AI can help HR teams deliver assistance to employees in real-life situations such as needing a leave of absence, making benefits selections, and managing work and life after a disabling injury. The webinar wrapped up by discussing reasons HR organizations should invest in AI for HR, and offering some tips to get the conversation started in any organization.
