Since its founding in 1984, Danaher has embraced a strategy that emphasizes acquisitions, resulting in a varied, diverse population of employees across 15+ operating companies. While this approach enabled the company to become a highly successful global innovator, it also led to the creation of a fragmented, siloed benefits ecosystem consisting of over 40 best-in-class programs. This left associates confused and often unsure about what benefits were available to them and where to go for help. There was an impact gap between the investments made in benefits and the outcomes Danaher and its people were realizing. The company struggled with several business-critical issues: a fragmented benefits experience, rising healthcare costs and complexity in navigating the system and creating relevant program engagement.
