Chris MichalakChief Executive Officer
Chris Michalak brings more than 25 years of experience in general management, sales effectiveness and human resources consulting to his role as CEO of Alight Solutions. He is known for his authentic leadership style and thoughtful approach to employee engagement.
Chris has worked with many Fortune 1000 firms to assist them with HR transformation, mergers and acquisitions, total rewards strategy, and defining their core competencies. His strength as a facilitator and strategist has enabled him to guide clients through numerous strategic projects across the HR spectrum.
Prior to assuming leadership of Alight, Chris was Global Chief Commercial Officer with Aon Hewitt. His responsibilities included leading global sales and accounts strategy and directly managing all U.S. sales and accounts functions. Chris also led Aon Hewitt’s Global Client Promise initiative, which established a clear set of commitments to all clients and put in place a methodology for assessing the company's performance to ensure it met or exceeded client expectations.
Previously, Chris was the CEO of Buck Consultants, a global HR consulting firm.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Michigan State University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Katie RooneyChief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer for Alight Solutions, Katie Rooney leads the finance organization and manages all aspects of the financial management and reporting for the business. Previously, Katie was the CFO for Aon Hewitt. Prior to that, she was the CFO for Aon Hewitt’s Outsourcing business and global head of financial planning and analysis.
Katie also led corporate finance, corporate M&A and financial risk management activities within Treasury at Aon before moving to Aon Hewitt. Her primary responsibilities included raising capital, optimizing overall cost of capital and discretionary cash spending, managing merger and acquisition activity and overall risk management strategies. She also worked as the COO, global finance and shared services under Aon’s CFO, Christa Davies, leading key global initiatives to drive corporate profitability and shareholder value creation.
Prior to joining Aon, Katie was a VP, Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley. Katie was accountable for primary and secondary coverage of numerous medical technology companies and involved in all aspects of debt, equity and M&A activities, including valuation, positioning and shareholder relations.
Katie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Michigan. She serves on the Board of Trustees for WTTW, a PBS member station.
Michael SigmundPresident, Health & Wealth Solutions
As President of Health & Wealth Solutions, Michael Sigmund has full responsibility for the health, defined contribution, defined benefits and consumer experience capabilities at Alight. Michael leads 17,000 colleagues across sales, operations and customer care to deliver excellent service and breakthrough solutions for our clients.
Before joining Alight, Michael spent 12 years at Conduent and its predecessor companies, most recently leading its global HR outsourcing services business, including benefit administration, HR business process outsourcing services and exchange solutions. As head of that business, Michael was directly engaged in signing more than $1B in client contracts with FORTUNE 500 clients and consistently increased client retention rates year-over-year. As chief strategist, Michael defined the technology roadmap of the future and related investment programs.
Michael has more than 25 years of experience across financial institutions and HR outsourcing and consulting organizations. He has held a variety of leadership roles that include managing key client relationships and implementing company-wide initiatives to transform operations and drive change, as well as directing the administration of more than 13,000 health and welfare, defined benefit and defined contribution plans and broader HR business process outsourcing engagements. Previously, Michael led the institutional client services group at TIAA-CREF, was a senior partner in Corporate Trust Services at Bankers’ Trust, and spent his early career in banking at Chase Manhattan. He has been consistently recognized as one of the most influential leaders in the retirement industry, often speaking at leading industry conferences, including the PLANSPONSOR National Conference and the HR Technology Conference.
Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Rowan University and earned an MBA from Farleigh Dickinson University. Michael is a founding member of the Franklin Lakes Youth and Recreation Foundation and a founding member of the National Kidney Registration.
Pavan BhallaPresident, HR & Financial Solutions
As President of Alight’s HR & Financial Solutions business, Pavan Bhalla is responsible for sales, operations, growth, product development and continuous improvement for a growing portfolio of clients using cloud-based platforms for HR and financial services. Prior to this role, he led service and delivery operations for Aon Hewitt as CEO of its outsourcing business.
Other previous roles with Aon Hewitt include India Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for Outsourcing operations. He was also Corporate Controller of Hewitt Associates from 2006–2008. Before this, he served as Senior Vice President, Finance, of MCI Inc., a global telecommunications company. In this capacity, he was part of the leadership team that led MCI (formerly WorldCom) out of the largest fraud and bankruptcy in corporate history. Prior to joining MCI in August 2003, Pavan spent over seven years with telecommunications leader BellSouth Corporation.
Pavan has served on the board of directors and chaired the audit committee of Ebix Inc. (NASDAQ: EBIX) since 2004.
Pavan has an MBA in Analytic Finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an MBA in Management Science from Simon Fraser University, Canada.
Jonathan SchemborChief Strategy Officer
Jonathan Schembor brings more than a decade of experience at Aon Hewitt to his role as Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development at Alight Solutions.
Most recently, he was the President of Aon Hewitt’s industry-leading Human Resources Services business. In this role, Jonathan had P&L responsibility for some of the company’s largest client relationships, as well as the definition, scope and delivery of Aon Hewitt’s HR Cloud Strategy, Cloud Deployment Services (CDS) and Cloud Services.
Jonathan has held a variety of executive leadership, senior account management and operational roles throughout his career. He has transformed the HR Services business to refocus on emerging SaaS platforms and grew that business through acquisitions and organic growth. He led Aon Hewitt’s acquisition of OmniPoint in 2012 and Kloud, the largest Workday provider in Europe, in 2015, establishing the company as a leader in the Cloud space and one of the only companies offering a unique depth and blend of capabilities to design, build and operate Workday for global clients.
Previously, Jonathan served as Account Executive, including full accountability for Aon Hewitt’s largest HR BPO client. Before joining Aon Hewitt in 2002, Jonathan was Vice President of a media/technology spinoff of LG Electronics, responsible for all client-facing activities. He also spent seven years at Accenture’s New York office, where he was focused on media companies and new technology projects.
He has established client relationships and led teams supporting top Fortune 500 companies such as Prudential Financial, Marriott, International Paper and Bank of America.
Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.
Steven J. BandrowczakChief Operating Officer & Chief Information Officer
As Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer of Alight Solutions, Steve Bandrowczak oversees the application portfolio and technical infrastructure of the organization, including digital and print operations, operational performance, enterprise risk management, real estate and supply chain.
Steve joined the team in November 2016 and has more than 30 years of experience as an IT professional. He is an accomplished executive with a history of highly effective leadership within a diverse range of technologies. He has a proven track record of growing businesses consistently through innovation, and enhancing competitive positions while increasing profits.
Previously, Steve was the President of Telecommunication Media and Technology at Sutherland Global Services. He also served as the Senior Vice President for Global Business Services at Hewlett-Packard Enterprises, where he transformed its 16,000-employee shared service organization into a highly efficient operation with a focus on automation, business intelligence and labor optimization. In addition, Steve led the business process outsourcing (BPO) practice in the Enterprise Services Group.
Prior to joining Hewlett-Packard, Steve held senior leadership positions for various multi-billion-dollar global companies, including Avaya, Nortel, Lenovo, DHL and a privately owned SAP consulting company.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Long Island University, New York. He serves as Chairman of the Board for The Samfund and was named one of the Top 100 CIOs by Computerworld. Steve frequently headlines conferences and teaches leadership at educational institutions.
Mary SalesChief Client Officer
In her role as Chief Client Officer, Mary Sales is responsible for overseeing all client relationships and leading the account management teams across Alight Solutions. Prior to Alight, Mary was with Aon Hewitt for more than 25 years, playing a number of different client leadership roles across the business.
Mary has worked with clients solving a broad array of strategic issues, most often focused on linking organizations’ business results and human resource programs, including the outsourcing of HR. Mary has seen clients through outsourcing implementations, mergers and acquisitions and other significant change activities.
Prior to joining Aon Hewitt, Mary worked both on the provider and insurer side of health care, establishing and overseeing managed care networks for a large insurer.
Mary sits on the Board of Trustees of St. Peter’s School in Philadelphia; the Advancement Committee of Episcopal Community Services; and has been on the Board of Visitors of the Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL. She was recognized in 2014 as a Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Mary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Yale University and a Masters in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University.
Greg HaeckerChief People Officer
Greg Haecker serves as Chief People Officer for Alight Solutions, responsible for driving and executing the company’s end-to-end strategy to attract, retain and develop talent.
A respected business leader with deep subject matter expertise in benefits administration, Greg has a passion for engaging and developing colleagues. He is known for bringing that passion to everything he does, especially in his role developing client solutions that are creative, effective, sustainable and repeatable.
Most recently, Greg was an Executive Vice President in the Benefits Administration business, leading the delivery to all of our clients served with enterprise benefits solutions as well as our large-market clients in the West region. Previously, Greg led Implementation Services for Benefits Administration, overseeing the implementations of all custom defined benefit, defined contribution and health and welfare outsourcing projects.
In his 25-year career with Aon Hewitt, Greg has led many outsourcing implementations, including some of the company’s largest clients. He has served in a variety of implementation and ongoing roles, managing the delivery of services for a significant number of clients. Greg has also served as a defined benefit practice leader, working with client teams to ensure proper application of pension legislation and developing best practice solutions to pension administration challenges.
Greg graduated with honors from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He currently serves on the board of directors for Oasis for Orphans, an organization committed to orphans in Kenya.
Andrea W. ArmstrongChief of Staff
In her role as Chief of Staff at Alight Solutions, Andrea W. Armstrong is responsible for driving key initiatives to further the company’s strategic priorities on behalf of the CEO. A strong and accomplished leader, Andrea has transformed struggling business units into high-performing teams and driven double-digit revenue growth within multiple business segments.
Andrea most recently served as Vice President, Global Commercial Operations at Aon Hewitt, responsible for defining and using sales disciplines to effectively drive new business. In this role, Andrea led a variety of complementary commercial teams, including opportunity management, client services, business performance management and research and business intelligence.
Previous roles at Aon Hewitt included responsibility for client delivery, financial results and people management for clients such as Dell, Rexam Inc. and General Dynamics. While leading the Point Solutions business, Andrea also served as the Chief Executive Officer for Hewitt Financial Services (HFS), a wholly owned broker/dealer subsidiary of Hewitt, and served as the Hewitt Money Market (HMM) President. Prior to joining Aon Hewitt, she served as Sales Leader and Special Districts Divisional Leader at Coregis Insurance, a subsidiary of GE Capital, where she doubled the revenue of the business in just 2.5 years. Prior to that, she spent almost five years at Great American Insurance Company with responsibilities in underwriting, marketing and operations management.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from the University of Cincinnati. Andrea sits on the Board for the Illinois Chapter for Gift of Adoption.
John MikowskiGeneral Counsel
John Mikowski joined the Alight Solutions management team after a 13-year career at Aon, most recently as Chief Counsel – U.S. Contracting. In that role, he led a team of 20 attorneys, paralegals and other professionals to provide timely, high-quality and solution-oriented legal and commercial contracting support to Aon Hewitt’s U.S. outsourcing and consulting businesses.
As Alight’s General Counsel, John is responsible for legal affairs of the entire enterprise, serving as the legal advisor to the board of directors, chief executive officer and other senior executives. John and his team work very closely with the business and other key stakeholders to effectively manage key client matters and strategic decisions. Responsibilities of the Legal Department include formulating and executing contract negotiations, advising on legal matters in connection with the introduction of new products and services or entry into new markets, managing mergers and acquisitions and litigation activity, maintaining corporate compliance and other areas of significant company-wide impact.
Throughout John's career at Aon, he consistently took on roles of progressively more responsibility and served as an instrumental senior member of the Aon Hewitt legal team. Prior to his Chief Counsel role, John was Associate General Counsel, where, in addition to his commercial contracting responsibilities, he represented the law department on the HR Services Leadership Team and led key engagement-related efforts across the function.
Prior to joining Aon, John was a corporate associate at Altheimer & Gray in Chicago, where he provided counsel for a variety of clients in complex commercial matters, including advising strategic and financial buyers and sellers in corporate transactions.
John is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Loyola University Chicago and a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Maggie LowerExecutive Vice President, Marketing
Maggie Lower is responsible for the strategic development and execution of global marketing for Alight Solutions. She previously held the same role at Aon Hewitt, where her team focused on optimizing Aon Hewitt’s brand awareness, thought leadership, market positioning, and lead- generation efforts across talent, retirement, health and HR services in North America, EMEA and APAC. Additionally, her marketing team focused on integration with other commercial functions and Aon Corporate initiatives.
Maggie joined Aon Hewitt in 2012 after 15 years at Bank of America, where she led the development of go-to-market plans for the integrated institutional investments and U.S. Trust businesses. Maggie has a recognized track record of improving operations, optimizing revenue results and developing teams with a keen focus on clients’ needs. The majority of her experience is in sales and client relationship functions, where she has been responsible for identifying, implementing and managing the outreach and infrastructure required to support large, complex client relationships.
Maggie completed her MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where she was a member of the volleyball team.
Amy WulfestiegExecutive Vice President, Communications
Amy Wulfestieg is Alight's Executive Vice President, Communications, responsible for the overall internal and external communication strategy, planning, and execution for the company, including CEO and executive communications, client communications and reputation management.
Previously, Amy led internal communications at Aon Hewitt, where she was responsible for client communication efforts and led the company’s response and approach to all reputation management issues, helping to minimize risk and protect Aon’s brand.
In her 18 years with Aon Hewitt, Amy took on roles of increasing responsibility within the communications function. Her experience spans the full breadth of communication disciplines, including internal communications, media relations, marketing communications and other external messaging. She has led significant organizational change initiatives to support business growth and stability. Amy was instrumental in defining the strategy and executing the plan to announce Aon’s merger with Hewitt Associates in 2010 and played a key role in the ongoing change and integration efforts between the two firms, as well as several other mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Most recently, she led the communications strategy and execution for Aon Hewitt’s sale of the outsourcing business to Blackstone.
Amy holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.
